Driver CPC Courses
Driver CPC Training Requirements
Driver CPC is an EU directive that came into force in September 2009 (2008 for PCV), requiring all LGV drivers to hold a driver certificate of professional competence which must be renewed every 5 years.
This will be known as a driver qualification card. Driver CPC was introduced to improve the professional skills and knowledge of drivers in order to improve road safety and driving efficiency.
By the 10th September 2014 all professional drivers who drive vehicles over 3.5 tonnes must be qualified in Driver CPC.
To gain this qualification, drivers must successfully complete a total of 35 hours of training. This is divided into 5 x individual courses or modules, each lasting 7 x hours (plus any time for lunch breaks etc).
